Fun Makes - Make Your Own Natural Products

I LOVE making things! It has always been one of the things that I have enjoyed with my kids too. Picking things to make that they can really get involved with, and where possible trying to ensure that we are using natural ingredients. We think about who could use and enjoy the end product, it's part of the fun.

I have picked a couple of my favourite Natural Remedies that I make with my girls. They are now 12 but still love to make things for friends and family.

Oatmeal Bath Soak

How to Make your Natural Bath Soak

  1. Get your ingredients together

    Oats – 200 grams
Dried Lavender or Essential Oil – a handful of dried or 10 drops of oil
Muslin – Cut into large squares (approx 12cm x 12 cm)
Ribbon – Cut into pieces for tying (approx 10cm long)
    Large Bowl

  2. Mix Together

Put your oats and lavender together in the bowl. Mix thoroughly.

  3. Tie

Scoop out a large handful of the mixture and put into the middle of your muslin square. Tie the muslin closed tightly (WARNING – if you do not tie is securely, the mixture will come out in the bath)

  4. To Use

Just throw the bath soak into the bath. The water will turn milky from the oats and the smell will be amazing.

  5. Reuse

When you have finished, untie and empty the mix into the garden compost. The muslin can be washed and used again.

Mix It Up - If you do not like the smell of lavender you can always use dried Rose Petals or I just cut up about 4 Chamomile tea bags and add those in.

Room Spray

This is such a simple idea, you will love it. You can even re-use an existing bottle if you have one.

Method

Simply add all the ingredients into the bottle, shake and spray. This is a great one to get the kids to make, they can even choose which oils they like the smell of. I now have one upstairs and downstairs and the girls have even made them with different oils for presents.
