What is an Affirmation?

It is a phrase that reflects a positive thought.

Simple and amazingly effective, this is a tool that you can use with anyone, or any age, even if they cannot read you can read them out and they can choose. Simplicity is the ability to take a simple sentence and be able to say the words out loud and think about them.

It really does just take a moment!

You can grab your FREE printables below. They contain 12 colourful affirmations for you to use at home, work or school. Just print them, cut them out and you are good to go!

How do I use an Affirmation?

The joy is that there really are lots of ways they can be used:

  1. You can write some down
  2. Ask your children to write their own
  3. Put them in a jar, and choose a different one each day
  4. Stick them on the fridge
  5. Put them in your child's lunchbox
  6. Colour them in
  7. Make a Positivity Board - choosing your favourite affirmations
  8. Make Affirmation Stones

There really are so many different ways you can use them every day. The key to affirmations is that the person has to choose their own - it is again part of this mindful process that the power of the words is in taking ownership of the affirmation!

Who can use them?

There are phrases that can be used for children of all ages, from pre-school onwards they are a great tool to keep in your parenting toolbox! Why Affirmations?

A positive thought can really affect how we think. By focusing on that one phrase or sentence you can literally change how you perceive and feel other thoughts too. The brain is an amazing thing, if you give it permission it will take that optimism and thread it through into all aspects of your day.

Affirmations allow our brain to gain that focus, which then affects how we react to other thoughts, events and feelings.

You know how you wake up in a bad mood, everything then seems to go wrong! Well, in reality, it doesn't really but our brain is perceiving it that way. The same can be done with a positive mindset, so you can turn a bad day around with a simple positive affirmation!
